Increase CTR Quickly

There are numerous strategies to increase AdSense CTR (click-through ratio) in the long run. But let's look at a way to give a quick boost to CTR...

The strategy to increase CTR quickly is so simple that it is easy to miss. For this article, I'm going to assume you use your AdSense account for a single website, but you'll get the idea to apply it to more websites. Look at the definition of CTR, it is the ratio of impressions to clicks. That means, that the more users clicked on AdSense out of the total visitors, the higher the CTR.

AdSense CTR is not the only factor for more money. However, a high CTR does help get more money per clicks. Keep in mind a high CTR is never a solid number, it depends on the type of website. However as a general advertisement rule, 10% CTR is good. Just remember once again, 10% might be too high for some niches and too low for others.

The first step to quickly increase CTR is either really long, or you have done it already. You want to create a URL channel for each page in your website that has AdSense.

Then you want to let the channels gather data for a while. This varies depending on your traffic. But you want to make sure you get a good long-run sample of data.

So if you already have the data then you are ready for the next step. Otherwise, it is a good thing to step up as soon as possible.

Now this is the step to boost CTR. Take a look at the CTR of all your URL channels (with Google's default Advanced Reports option) for a long period of time, say two months for example.

Find all the pages in your website that have a terrible CTR compared to other pages. The ones you want to especially keep an eye out for are the pages with a lot of impressions. Pages that have a lot of impressions and very low CTR are bringing down your overall CTR. Go ahead and remove AdSense on those pages.

By cutting out AdSense altogether from low performing pages, you can quickly increase CTR for the rest of the pages. However, be careful not to get carried away. This is why it's important to have CTR data for a long period of time. You only want to take AdSense off of pages that are doing well below average.

Alternatively, you can try to focus your efforts on changing things around on those low-performing pages to boost CTR in the long run.

Either way, you'll enjoy a nice increase in CTR and in earnings.
