If you have any hopes of making some serious money with AdSense you need a long-term plan, and you need it now...

Okay just kidding, you can apply a long-term plan whenever you want. But the sooner the better. So let's examine the website-building part.

Some people say, very often, that you need to make a website on something you are passionate about. This way you can keep updating the site and not run out of things to talk about.

Yet on the other side, you have people that say you need to build websites around high-paying topics. What that means is you'll be making websites on things you know nothing about and you'll have to constantly keep making sites to keep up with what's hot.

So which one is better? The answer is both. Each has its advantages over the other.

It is against AdSense policy to create a website for the sole purpose of putting ads on it. The way to get around that is to make a website that gives out very good information and is constantly growing. Then Google can’t accuse you of making a website for AdSense.

So if you build a website on a topic you are interested in, you don’t have to worry about that part. In a long-term perspective, you’ll have more energy and material to grow the website into something sizable. It doesn’t matter if your particular niche does not make $40 per click. This long-term strategy is all about volume. You want to make a big site that brings in a lot of visitors; making small clicks (think $0.10) build up very very quickly. Furthermore you need to create a community that will keep the site growing.

If instead you decide to turn-out websites every month targeting high-paying keywords, then you’ll need to establish a solid step-by-step system to do so. Your system needs to address website design, website hosting, and a way to acquire quality content. (Putting up nothing but copied content will not work). With a system in place, you can quickly create websites on any topic and you can even outsource steps.

Notice each long-term plan is a lot of work, especially at the beginning. Yet both eventually become more or less automatic and can bring in handsome AdSense profits…
