Using Outbound LinksIt seems like the last thing to do, but external links can help your website get better AdSense ads... By pointing users to high-ranking, relevant pages, you do three things. All of these things are beneficial for you in the end. More Revelant Ads. The AdSense bot is Google at the end of the day. Google bots can't recognize content like humans can, so they rely on key factors on a page: title, h1 (h2, h3, etc) tags, and links. The correct link with anchor text tells AdSense what type of keywords to focus the ads on. By adding one or two outbound links, you increase the chances of highly relevant ads showing up on your page. Higher Rankings. Outbounds links are in no way as useful as inbound links, but linking to a high-ranking website can increase your own rankings. The key is have good anchor text (keep it between 3-5 words) and to make sure it is something revelant. That's important because you want users to come back to your website, if you send them to junk, they won't come back. Also make sure the links open in a new window. As for AdSense, higher rankings usually result in higher earnings per click. Set Clicking Habit. If readers get used to the fact that you link to relevant websites to give them fuller information, then they will be feel more encouraged to click on AdSense ads, which are at the end of the day just a bunch of outbound links. |
